Yes.

Homeowners can hire us to review existing estimates or prepare an independent Xactimate estimate for their loss. All work is done remotely using your photos, documents, and information. 

No.

Ricketts Estimating is a virtual Xactimate estimating service only. We do not attend site in person; all estimates are prepared from your photos, notes, measurements, and documentation. 

 We handle most property insurance claims, including:

• Water, fire, wind, and mould
   
• Mitigation and emergency services
   
• Roofing and exterior claims
   
• Interior rebuild and repair scopes
  

For very unusual or highly specialized losses, we’ll let you know if we’re not the right fit.

You send us your field documentation (photos, notes, measurements, reports, deadlines).

We prepare a detailed Xactimate estimate, send you the ESX and PDF, and include one round of minor revisions.

You submit the estimate to the insurer or client and use it to move the claim forward and protect your margin. 

 For each file, we recommend:

• Photos or video of the affected areas
   
• Scope notes and measurements (or floor plan)
   
• Any mitigation logs or equipment lists
   
• Insurer name, claim number (if available), and due dates

If something is missing, we’ll tell you what else we need before we begin.

Most standard residential files are completed within 48–72 business hours after we receive full documentation.

Larger or complex losses may take longer—if so, we’ll confirm the expected turnaround before starting.

Rush options may be available depending on workload. 

 Typical ranges:

• Full Xactimate estimates: $150 – $450 per estimate
   
• Roofing & exterior claims: $175 – $350 per estimate
   
• Mitigation & emergency estimates: $175 – $350 per estimate
   
• Estimate review & supplements: $150 – $300 per file
  

Large or complex files are priced individually once we understand the scope.

Yes.

If you’re sending 8–10+ files per month, we can set up volume pricing or a monthly retainer so you get predictable costs and priority turnaround. 

We use Xactimate for all estimating work.

Estimates are delivered as ESX files (for Xactimate) and PDFs for easy sharing with insurers and clients. 

We’re based in Ontario, Canada, and work virtually across Canada.

We also support select international clients where virtual estimating is appropriate. 

Each estimate includes one round of minor revisions based on your feedback.

If the scope changes significantly (for example, new areas are added or the loss expands), we’ll discuss any additional fee before proceeding. 

Yes.

We offer Estimate Review & Supplements: we review your existing Xactimate estimate line-by-line, identify missed or under-scoped items, and prepare a revised estimate or supplement with notes.
